What is the problem?
One of our customers meets with the problem like this:
After 3CX A and 3CX B are bridged, at default, the inbound call of the sip trunk in 3CX A will make the 3CX A extension ring, and the customer’s requirements are:
- The inbound call of the sip trunk in 3CX A will make the 3CX B extension ring directly;
- The users can make one switch between two destinations of inbound rules handily.
For the requirement 1, it is easy to set, in the related inbound rule of 3CX A, we just need to choose forward to outside number, and set the destination as the 3CX B extension.
But for the requirement 2, the users are not authorized to access the inbound rule of 3CX management console, and it is inconvenient to modify the settings.
What is the solution?
In order to meet the requirement 2, we can set it like this:
- New one extension 1028 in 3CX A, which is not used for making the calls and is just used for forwarding the calls.
When the extension status is away, please forward all the external calls to the 3CX A extension 1008.
When the extension status is Do Not Disturb(DND), please forward all the external calls to the 3CX B extension 816.
- In the inbound rules of the sip trunk in 3CX A, please set the destination as 3CX A extension 1028.
- Login the web client of 3CX A extension 1028, and change the status when necessary.
When the status of extension 1028 is away, any inbound calls of the related sip trunk in 3CX A will go to 3CX A extension 1008.
When the status of extension 1028 is Do Not Disturb, any inbound calls of the related sip trunk in 3CX A will go to 3CX B extension 816.
